MAP BEFORE 1700 OXFORDSHIRE
Sioux FENNESSEY, Hertfordshire: - Related to Donald KNIBB, Herbert KNIBB and Dan WEBB.
Herbert KNIBB, Buckinghamshire: On the basis of current knowledge, it seems that my great-grandfather x7 was George KNIBB of Farnborough and Claydon, the uncle of clockmakers Samuel, Joseph and John, and father of Peter. My great grandfather x6 was Job baptised 1653, brother of the said Peter. Job, who married Beata PENNE in 1679, farmed at Boddington, dying there in September 1727.
His second son, Stephen, born at Claydon in 1690, removed to Stoke Goldington in Buckinghamshire at a date and for a reason unknown but probably not unconnected with the fact that his father's cousin Joseph had retired in 1697 to nearby Hanslope.
Subsequent generations remained in that area until the general exodus from the countryside in the mid-19thC, when Benjamin, my great-grandfather, moved first to Northampton (family tradition says with two brothers who subsequently went to the Birmingham area) and later to London, where the three succeeding generations were born.
Click on my name to see relevant Listing and from that page the Clockmakers' tree.

Donald KNIBBS: My 9x great grandfather, John NIBB was baptised at Hook Norton, Oxfordshire in July 1573. He was buried at Adderbury, Oxfordshire in January 1650. From what I can tell, the family continued to live in that same area of Oxfordshire appearing in Adderbury, Banbury, Charlbury, Cropredy, Deddington, Enstone, Shorthampton, Steeple Barton and Westcote Barton. During the mid-1800's the family is seen to spread out to Aston, Birmingham as well as to London. In the early 1900's driven by work on the
Great Western Railways, my grandfather George Levi KNIBBS moved to
Basingstoke in Hampshire where my father and I were both born. George KNIBBS: - Related to Don KNIBBS

Muriel BOLTON, Bristol, England: My KNIBB roots are in Harbury, Warwickshire and can be traced, with conjectures, back to the 1630s to 9x Great Grandfather Thomas KNIBB. Successive KNIBB sons moved away over the years but the direct line of my family stayed in Harbury until John KNIBB was born and died there in 1797, aged 49 yrs. The family moved away during the changes of the Agricultural Revolution. Their movements can be traced to various parts of Warwickshire and then to Staffordshire. My Grandfather Arthur KNIBB emigrated with his family of five from Stoke on Trent in 1924 and bought a Fruit Farm in Stanthorppe, Brisbane, Australia. My mother Annie Maria stayed behind to get married. There is a large contingent of KNIBB descendants in Australia, including researcher Drew STEPHENSON.
