They had the following children.

  M i Jasper Lamartin HAWKINS-2430 was born on 21 Dec 1850. He died on 8 Dec 1900.

Ebenezer ABBE [Parents]-2432 was born on 31 Jul 1683 in Salem Village, Essex, Massachusetts. He died on 5 Dec 1758 in Windham, Windham, Connecticut. Ebenezer married Mary Elizabeth ALLEN-7177 on 28 Oct 1707 in Mansfield, Tolland, Connecticut.

Other marriages:
GOODALE, Abigail

BIOGRAPHY: Windham Probate Records, Vol. 5, p. 513
Ebenezer Abbe removed with his father in 1698 to a locality known as the "Bricktop"; worked in Norwich for a time (about 1705); was at Windham in 1706; and later lived in North Windham and Mansfield. In November 1705 two deeds were recorded showing an exchange of property between Samuel Abbe and Ebenezer of Norwich -- a lot on Bushnell's Plain. Ebenezer received another deed from Samuel on 17 July 1707 and sold land to Abraham Mitchell and William Slate in 1709 and 1711. On 29 October 1713, John Abbe, "now resident at Hartford," sold his brother Ebenezer land he had received from his father. In 1715, Ebenezer settled at Hampton Hill in the northeast part of Windham County. On 9 May 1717, he signed a petition asking the General Assembly to authorize the formation of Canada parish, and the following October he put his name to a second petition to use the property taxes of the parish to establish its church. On 8 September 1743, Ebenezer sold land in Windham, on the east side of Nauchaug River, to his son Samuel. In his will, dated 3 June 1750, and probated 14 December 1758, he named his wife Mary; children Ebenezer, Joshua, Nathan, Gideon, Samuel, Elizabeth Cross, Zeruiah Marsh, Jerusha Wood, Abigail Cary, Miriam Cross; grandson Jonathan Bingham, only surviving son and heir of his daughter Mary, deceased.

Samuel ABBE [Parents]-8819 was born in 1646 in Wenham, Essex, Massachusetts. He died on 8 Mar 1697 in Windham, Windham, Connecticut. He was buried in Windham Center Cemetery, Windham, Windham, Connecticut. Samuel married Mary KNOWLTON-8820 on 12 Oct 1672 in Mansfield, Tolland, Connecticut.

Samuel Abbe was living in Salem during the days of witchcraft and was one of those opposed to its fanaticisms. One Rebecca Nourse, (could also be spelled Nurse) on trial as a witch, produced a paper signed by several "respectable inhabitants" of Salem, among whom was Samuel Abbe. This document as to her good character caused her to be set at liberty but the sentence was later changed and she was put to death as a witch. In 1913, a monument to her memory was erected by her descendants.

Research shows that Samuel Abbe was present, as a witness, for the following trials, one of which he brought the charges:

REBECCA NOURSE OR NURSE - The mother of eight children was 71 years old when she was hanged on Gallows Hill with four other women, July 19, 1692. She had been one of Salem Village's most respected and religious citizens, so much so that the magistrates hesitated in delivering the warrant for her arrest. A petition was drawn up and signed on May 14, 1692, by most of the richest and most influential people, such as Israel Porter (his name appears first), Daniel Andrews, SAMUEL ABBE, and 34 others. This petition speaking of her good character was sent to Governor Sir William Phipps who responded with a temporary reprieve. When the reprieve ran out, she was tried and found not guilty, but at the verdict, the accusing girls fell into such violent fits that the jury was instructed to reconsider. The jury foreman, allowed to question Rebecca, got no response from the old women who apparently could not hear his questions over the noise of the girls. Her silence, apparently, was taken as a sign of guilt for the jury returned with a verdict of guilty. After she was hanged, Rebecca was buried in such a shallow grave on Gallows rocky hill that some body parts remained exposed. Her family came in the dark of night, collected her remains, and reburied her on the family's homestead.

MARY EASTY - Samuel Abbe testified and said that on the 20th ofMay 1692, he went to the house of Constable John Putnam about 9 o' clock in the morning. When he arrived, Mercy Lewis lay on the bed in a sad condition and continuing speachless for about an hour. A group of hysterical girls said that a disembodied image of Mary Easty was pinching them. Shortly there after, Abigail Williams and Mrs. Ann Putnam arrived. They said that as they were coming along the way they saw the apparition of Mary Easty. Both of them said that the apparition of Mary Easty told them that she was afflecting of Mercy Lewis, and when they arrived at John Putnam's house, both of them said they saw the apparition of Mary Easty afflecting the body of Mary Lewis. Mary Easty was arrested, tried for witchcraft, and sentenced to prison. She was eventually released from prison. Yet, due to the outcries and protests of her accusers, SAMUEL ABBE being one of them, she was arrested a second time. Mary Easty was brought to trial again in a court where there existed almost no possibility of proving innocence. Under the Puritan court, the pressure to confess and atone for one's sins was immense. Innocent individuals with nothing to confess were subsequently often lead to admit to crimes which they did not commit. Moreover, other accused witches confirmed that Mary Easty had been working with them. Mary Easty was tried and condemned to death. She was hung by the neck until dead on September 22, 1692. Five years later, the people of Massachusetts recognized that Mary Easty had been innocent and that they had unjustly executed her. The Colony held a day of fasting on January 14, 1697, and especially the judges who had tried Mary Easty looked into their guilty consciences. None of this made much difference to Mary Easty, already long since dead and buried.

SARAH GOOD - Samuel Abbe and his wife Mary Knowlton, were witnesses in a witch trial in Salem in 1692 against Sarah Good, a women of vicious temper who had lived with Samuel Abbe and his wife in their home for a time but was dismissed on

Mary KNOWLTON-8820 was born in 1649 in Mansfield, Tolland, Connecticut. Mary married Samuel ABBE-8819 on 12 Oct 1672 in Mansfield, Tolland, Connecticut.

They had the following children.

BIOGRAPHY: There seems to be some differing opinions as to who exactly married John Hutchins, son of Nicholas and Elizabeth (Farr) Hutchins of Lynn and Groton, Massachusetts. John was born 3 Jun 1668 in Lynn and died in Killingly, Windham County, Conn., 20 Mar 1756. He had two or three wives with the first being named Abigail, which name shows in the births of their five children in Groton from 1693 to 1705. There is no existing marriage or death record for Abigail in Groton. He marries his second wife, the widow Mary (Wyman) Pierce about 1707 and has seven children born from 1708 to 1717 in Plainfield, Conn.
Their are two suggestions in current publications as to who Abigail may be.   First is from the book "Matthias Farnsworth and his descendants in America," by Claudius Buchanan Farnsworth (Pawtucket, R.I, 1891):
     “Children of Matthias Farnworth…
    Abigail [Farnsworth] Hutchins.
Abigail was the ninth child of Matthias Farnsworth. She is named in her father's will, and that is the last certain information we have of her. She was born Jan. 17, 1671. It is supposed that she married her cousin, John Hutchins, son of Nicholas Hutchins whose wife Elizabeth Farr was sister to Abigail's mother. The family of Nicholas Hutchins lived near the homestead of Matthias Farnsworth, and he, and probably his son John, formed part of the Farnsworth garrison in 1692. The marriage, it is probable, took place during those disturbed times, when no records could be kept. At all events, John Hutchins' wife's name appears to be Abigail, and their first child was born Oct. 13, 1693. If this conclusion is correct, she had by her husband John Hutchins children as follows:
        John, born Oct. 13, 1693.
Joshua, born Nov. 5, 1696; married Mary Shed, July 12, 1722.
        Abigail, born Sept. 14, 1698.
        Elizabeth, born Sept. 6, 1700.
        Benjamin, born Aug. 17, 1705.
They probably moved from the town early, as they disappear entirely from the town records, and I have no further trace of them.”
Second is from the book "Nicholas Hutchins of Lynn and Groton, Massachusetts, and his Descendants...," by Marvin Clayton Hutchins, pp. 2-3. The pertinent portion is: "John2 Hutchins (Nicholas1), born in Lynn, Massachusetts Bay Colony, 3 June 1668 (VR), died in Killinghly, Windham County, Connecticut, 20 March 1756 (VR).
He was married three times. He married first, probably in Groton, Massachusetts, about 1692, Abigail3 Whitney*, who was born about 1673, died about 1705/6, daughter of Joshua and Abigal Tarbell) Whitney (see Savage, 4:531)... [Author continues with other wives and a biography.]"
In this second quote, the author also has the same five children, but in much greater detail. He seems to hedge a bit by putting an asterisk after the name Whitney to show some degree of speculation. In checking the reference he uses from Savage in his "Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of New England," I find under the surname Whitney:
"Joshua, Groton, s. of the first John, by w. Lydia had Joshua, b. 14 June 1666; and Sarah, 10 Oct., 1668; by w. Mary had no ch. and she d. 17 Mar 1672; and he m. at Watertown, 30 Sept. foll, Abigail, prob. d. of Thomas Tarbell, had Mary, 1 July 1675, at Groton; thence drv. by the Ind. war, had at W. William, 28 Feb. 1678; and for the other ch. we must rely upon his will of 17 Apr. 1713, in wh., he calls them Cornelius, David, Martha, Eliz. and d. Hutchins, by Bond thot. to be Abigail, w. of John H. an d. Woods, wh. he thot. was Alice, w. of Nathaniel W. but the last is uncert."
A transcription of the 1713 will is available online at http://wiki.whitneygen.org/wrg/index.php/Archive:Middlesex_County,_MA,_Probate_Files#File_.2324703.2C_Joshua_Whitney.2C_1719 accessed 20 Oct 2016 from which I copy the applicable part about his daughter ___ Hutchins:
"... it[em] unto my five Daughters viz: Mary pierce Elenor Shepard Sarah Jull Martha Williams and Elizabeth Farnworth: I do will that they have five pounds apeace payed unto them in maner following vis: four of them to have ther five pounds apeace payed unto them by son william whitney Not to Be Compeled to pay any untill a year after my deceise: and ye other to be payed out of my moveable Estate  it[em] unto my eldest daughter hutchinses children I do will and Bequeath ten pounds of money in maner following, that is to say to her eldest son John Hutchins I do will that he have fifty shillings payed unto him when he shall come to ye age of one and twenty years and to ye rest thirty shillings a peace as they shall acquier and come to there full age to receive there portions which Compleats to ye whole which I Do Ever did or do see cause to give unto her and as to my Eldest daughter wife to Thomas woods I gave unto her in ye time of her life ye full porpotion of my Estate which I did see ocation to give unto her or concerning ye movables which may be Left after my wifes decease I do will and Bequeath them unto my five Daughters now Living and to my Daughter Hutchinses three Daughters they all to have an eaquell Share with one of my own Daughters (Viz) mary peirce Elenor Shepard Sary Juell Martha Williams Elisabeth Farnworth."
What is important in this will is that his daughter ___ Hutchins is deceased by 1713 and her eldest son is named John (under age 21) and there are three younger living unnamed daughters. We do not know the name of her husband. Even though there is a similarity in the eldest son being named John (he his only a year and half shy of being 21), there are problems since three daughters are referred to and not the two that John and Abigail had; also there is no reference to the second oldest child Joshua who is alive and later marries in 1722. This listing would then tend to diminish the likelihood of John Hutchins' deceased wife Abigail being the Whitney daughter.
Savage (and Bond to who he refers) appear to have made a proposed link which upon further inquiry does not seem to carry well. On the other hand, the author of the Nicholas Hutchins biography does show some hesitation. Of the two current options, the suggestion that Abigail was Abigail Farnsworth remains; however, it too is speculative but cannot yet be disproved. - Familysearch.org
