Daughter-in-law of William Benedict DeCoursey

I have fond memories of my father-in-law. He was always very gracious and kind to all. Vince and I were married in 1940. The W .B. DeCoursey family moved to Anaheim, California in 1941. So we were not around Grandma & Grandpa as much as some of the other members of the family were. Grandpa was always dressed in a dark suit, shirt, tie and suspenders. Very seldom did you see him in a sport shirt. If you did it was in the privacy of his home. He loved to listen to the radio, especially the stock market report. I remember the first time we visited "Yankee Grove" in 1943 with my oldest child, and his first grandchild Vince, Jr. He would take "V" to pick oranges on the grove. As a result, the first word "V" said was "Orange." Vince and I were so proud of him, we thought he was brilliant. Grandpa attended daily Mass, then he returned home from church. He always walked around the fish pond to check on the fish and see how many had survived the night. He was something else. When his car was out of gas, he would drive around to find a gas station that he had stock in to make sure he helped his investment. Grandpa was close to his two brothers, Jim and Frank, and loved his sister who joined the convent and was a member of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, Ks.
