Scanlon Bro's was a dry goods store owned by brothers Thomas and John Scanlon, the eldest of Michael J. and Mary (McDonnell) Scanlon's 14 children. It was located in the village of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin, a frame structure that stood where the empty cement block building (at one time Laabs store) now [ca 1980?] stands in the north side of Highway 12-16. Before they opened the store Thomas worked as a school teacher and John worked on the family farm in Seven Mile Creek. Scanlon Bro's was in business about 1883 to the early 1900's. John died in July 1897 at the age of 40, apparently Thomas carried on by himself for a few years. Thomas died in 1907 at the age of 52. Both brothers were married, Thomas to Annie Havey in 1897 and John to Julia E. Smyth in 1892, but neither had any children.
