Death Certificate of
Catherine Agnes (Connelly) Terry

(1862 - 1940)

Kate Connelly was the fifth of Gregory Connelly and Hannah McDonnell's 9 children. Her mother Hannah was born in County Mayo, Ireland, the daughter of Michael McDonnell and Mary Needham. Very little is known about her father, who was also Irish. Kate was born in Nashville, Tennessee, where the family lived from about 1860 to 1863. They then moved back to Cincinnati, Ohio where her McDonnell relatives lived. Her father died or disappeared in the late 1860's. In the 1870's her mother moved the family across the Ohio River to Ludlow, Kentucky where most of them, including Kate, spent the rest of their lives. In July 1878 Kate married John H. Terry, the son of Jackson and Mary E. (Hamilton) Terry of Kentucky. John worked as a sawyer and railroad machinist. Kate and John had eight children, all but one of them reached adulthood.
