Marriage Record of
Michael McManus and Elizabeth Mackin
27 Dec 1876, Wyandotte County, Kansas

Michael McManus was the father of Julia McManus, who married James H. DeCoursey. Michael was born in Ontario, Canada in 1849, I believe he was the son of Michael and Julia (Heardon) McManus, both of County Cavan, Ireland. His first wife was Elizabeth Mackin, the daughter of Bernard and Margaret Mackin. She was born in Cook County, Illinois on 17 Nov 1855. Michael and Elizabeth had a son, Michael B., born in March 1877. Tragically, he died at the age of four months in July 1877, and his mother died shortly after on August 20. In the 1880 federal census Michael is living in Wyandotte with his Mackin in-laws and listed as a widower. He married his second wife, Sarah Murray, in October 1880. Michael, Elizabeth and their son are buried in the Mackin family plot in St. John's Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.
