Obituary of
Anna Elizabeth (Ciston) DeCoursey
(1920 - 1997)

I believe Ann was the daughter of Anthony Ciston and his second wife Mary. Anthony was born in what was then Austria-Hungary, but now belongs to Poland. Mary was born in Austria. Ann lived most of her life in the Kansas City area, growing up in the same part of town as her future husband Bill (William Paul) DeCoursey and attending the same schools. The 1930 census shows them living about 11 blocks away from each other. Ann's father owned a paving contracting business. After high school she studied nursing at St. Mary's in Leavenworth, but never practiced it as she got married before graduation (against the rules) and her first child was born the following September. Ann and Bill had nine children; two daughters and seven sons.
