Bud was the son of James W. "Jake" DeCoursey III and Helen A. Shaughnessy, the second born of their two children. Like his parents, he was born and appears to have lived his whole life in Leavenworth, Kansas. He did not marry. Bud must have been interested in sports, as his gravestone has pictures of a tennis and golf player. Related Items:

The Leavenworth Times (Leavenworth, Kansas) Wednesday, 24 October 2001, p. A3 James DeCoursey Jr. Mr. DeCoursey was born Nov. 28, 1927, in Leavnworth, the son of James W. Sr. and Helen A. Shaughnessy DeCoursey. He had worked for Bay State Milling, Kaaz Woodworking Co., Nashua Trailer Co., Fort Leavenworth Officers Club and later worked in accounting. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Japan. He was a member of the Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Leavenworth Country Club and the Franternal Order of Eagles. He is survived by his sister, Mary M. "Sis" Dix, Leavenworth; one nephew; one niece; and two grandnieces. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel where a wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. David McEvoy will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association or Saint Joseph Church. |
