Frank was the second of Edwin E. and Mary (McCormick) DeCoursey's six children. He was born in the small mining town of Alma, Colorado on Sept. 12, 1885. His father was in the mining business, among other things. In April 1901, when he was 15 years old, the family moved back to Leavenworth, Kansas, where his father had grown up and where his grandfather James had a dairy and stock farm. He attended St. Mary's College in Leavenworth, graduating in 1905. Shortly thereafter he moved to Kansas city to help his brother James run his newly started creamery company. He lived the rest of his life in Kansas City, working in the dairy and banking business. In 1915 he married Catherine "Kate" Cotter, the daughter of James J. and Bridget Cotter of Leavenworth. They had nine children, two sons and seven daughters. Related Items:
