John Michael Mullen
(1866 - 1955)


John Mullen was the third of Michael J. and Catherine (McDonnell) Mullen's eight children, the only one to marry and have a family. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. When he was a child his family moved to Omaha, Nebraska. He married Cecelia A. Hughes, daughter of Martin D. and Mary (Wickham) Hughes in 1894. They had 7 children. John worked as a lumber broker. In about 1929 John and Cecelia and their unmarried adult sons Raymond, Clifford and Thomas H. moved to Kansas City, Kansas.

JOHN MICHAEL MULLEN.
Father of Kansas Doctor Had Been Lumber Broker

John Michael Mullen, 89, of the Mount St. Joseph home in Kansas City, Kansas, died this morning at St. Margaret's hospital. He was the father of Dr. Clifford J. Mullen, 1828 Washington boulevard, Kansas City, Kansas.

A resident of Kansas City, Kansas for the last twenty-five years, Mr. Mullen was born in Ohio. For many years he made his home in Omaha, where he was a lumber broker.

He was a member of the Lumbermen's Association of Nebraska, of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus, the St. Peter's cathedral and of the Holy Name society.

He leaves three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Connelly, Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. Jeanne Schulze, St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Mary Louise Decoursey, Tulsa, Ok.; three sons in addition to Dr. Mullen, Raymond J. Mullen, 990 Hillcrest drive, Kansas City, Kansas; John M. Mullen, jr., Omaha, and Thomas H. Mullen, Lexington, Mo.; eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
