Martin Hughes Jr. was the youngest of Martin Hughes and Mary Wickham's 11 children. He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and spent his entire life there. Like his father, he was a contractor. He was married twice, first to Mary E. Pierce in 1906 (she died in 1937) and then to Grace M. Thompson in 1938. He had no children. Related Items:

He is survived by his widow, Grace Hughes, one brother, J. J. Hughes of Des Moines; two sisters, Mrs. Celia Mullen of Kansas City, Kan., and Mrs. Ida Fox of Omaha. The body will lie in state at the residence until the hour of the funeral at St. Francis Xavier�s church at 10 a. m. Saturday. Requiem mass will be celebrated by the Rev. James P. Danahay [sic]. Burial will be in the St. Joseph cemetery. Beem-Belford�s funeral home is in charge. |
