Milton Joseph "Joe" Foley was the son of Jeremiah S. Foley Jr. and Maria V. Scanlon. His parents were both born in Juneau County, Wisconsin. Jeremiah worked for a lumber company, so the family moved from Wisconsin to Minnesota to Louisiana, where Joe was born, and finally to Florida. Joe married Kathryn D. Robuck of Florida in 1935, they had two children. He also worked in the lumber business, as did several extended members of the Scanlon family. Powell River Company, of which he was president, was started by his uncle M. J. Scanlon. Related Items:

Sunday, March 11, 2001 FOLEY, MILTON JOSEPH, 91, of Belleair, died Friday (March 9, 2001) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. He was born in Kentwood, La., and came here in 1998 from Naples, Fla. He worked in the forest products industry and was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Kathryn; a daughter, Kathryn Schurz, Bloomington, Ind.; a son, Michael, Largo; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The Beachwood Society, Naples.
