Peter was the oldest of Michael J. Mullen and Catherine McDonnell's eight children, and a brother of John, who married Ceciclia Hughes. Both of his parents were born in County Galway, Ireland. Peter was born in Cincinnati, Ohio about 1863, and was probably named after his paternal grandfather. His family moved around a bit during his childhood, from Cincinnati to Omaha and St. Louis and then back again. Why is not known. After his father's death in 1875, when Peter was 12 years old, his mother moved the family back to Omaha, Nebraska where they had lived briefly around 1868. He spent the rest of his life there, dying at the age of 37 of tuberculosis. He was buried in his parents' family plot in St. Joseph New Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio, at the same time as his brother Charles who had died 7 months previously, also of tuberculosis. Related Items:
