Mary C. Farrell was born in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Daniel J. and Elizabeth Farrell. She married Edward A. Wickham, the son of James Wickham and his first wife Mary Lacy. Like his father and other members of his family, Edward was very successful in the contracting business in the Council Bluffs, Iowa area. He had suffered a psychological breakdown about a year before this accident, and was being cared for by a nurse. He committed suicide about two months later in March 1925. Their only child, son Bernard J., was only 15 years old.

Crossing Crash
Victims Still In
Critical State

      COUNCIL BLUFFS Ia, Dec. 26--The condition of Mrs. E. A. Wickham, injured in a crossing accident here Wednesday evening when Miss Florence Brodahl, nurse, was killed, was not so good it was reported at the hospital where she and her husband and son are being cared for. Attending physicians would not say that either of the injured were out of danger.
      Coroner Cutler stated the inquest would not be held until some member of the Wickham family is able to relate how the accident occurred.

Mrs. E. A. Wickham Dies After
Accident in Which Wahoo
Girl Was Killed.
      COUNCIL BLUFFS, Ia., Dec. 22--Mrs. E. A. Wickham died Friday night as a result of injuries suffered when the automobile in which she was riding was struck by a train on Christmas eve.
      Mrs. Wickham, wife of E. A. Wickham, one of the most widely known financiers of southwestern Iowa, had been in a critical condition ever since the accident which took the life of Miss Florence Brodahl, of Wahoo, Neb., special nurse for Mr. Wickham, and injured Mr. Wickham, Mrs. Wickham and their son, Bernard.
      She suffered a fractured right arm, several fractured ribs and internal injuries.
      Shortly after five Friday night, the entire family was called to the hospital. Mrs. Wickham had taken a turn for the worse and was not expected to live. She lost consiousness a short time later and died before she could be aroused from the state of semi-comma.
      A coroner's jury is investigating.
