Jim, Frank and Will were sons of Edwin Eugene and Mary (McCormick) DeCoursey. In 1906, Jim started the DeCoursey Creamery Co. in Kansas City, Kansas. He soon enlisted the help of his brothers Frank and Will. They formed a partnership and ran the company together, with Jim representing the company in the public eye, Frank handling the business aspects and Will the customer relations.
