I Like Irfanview, but it interferes with a photo editing software of mine.
How can I temporarily disable it?

What has happened is that Irfanview has become the associated program for the graphics that you are trying to edit.  If you want to be able to click on a given graphic and have your photoediting software come up instead, here is the way to do that:

Find the photo that you want to edit and currently is coming up in Iview.  Now single click to select, and then hold down the shift key and right click on that graphic.  This will bring up your association window so that you can now connect this extension to the photo program.  Scroll down through the list to see if the photo program is there.  If so, click on it, and make sure that the little box in the lower left is checked.  If it isn't there, then click on the "other" button and navigate to the photo program <name>.exe file.  Click on this to select and again, make sure that the little box is checked.  This will permanently change (until you go through the procedure again to change back) to the photo program.  What I do is to keep the associations that I want, but have a folder with the other graphics programs so that I can open that folder on my desktop and then drag and drop the file on the program that I want to use.  I do keep an Iview icon on the desktop as I use a number of the plugins so that I can drop sound and graphic files on it and they will open, even though I don't have the default association connected to Iview.
