If you are a user of Netscape 4.7x and find that it is slowing significantly in connecting to web pages, you can try the following to remove imbedded websites in the Registry.Be certain that all netscape windows are closed and exited before doing the following.
Start Regedit by going to Start, Run and enter REGEDIT and press return. The next thing is to back up the registry before you start any editing.
Go to REGISTRY, Export and pick a convenient spot to export a copy of the registry. Once done, go to the first Key (HKEY_CURRENT_USER) and open it.
Next click on the plus beside the Software (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software) to open it and scroll down to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Netscape. Highlight this and press the DEL key to remove it. Answer yes to removing it.
Next go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and open it. Again, go to software, then the netscape
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Netscape and highlight it. Delete this as well and close the regedit.Now when you start Netscape, it will rebuild the simple keys for Netscape and will, in many cases, speed up the website connections.
