From the Pecatonica News, August 16, 1884:
Tuesday August 12 was a memorable day for friends and relatives gathering at the residence of J. Southard, Esq. in Burritt for a reunion of the Thompson family and also the birthday of Mrs. Southard and "Aunt Emily". The "old folks" were: Des. Joel W. Thompson, Pecatonica, Il. age 91 Oct 17, 1884, Emily w/o Joel W. age 86 Aug. 12, 1884; Mrs. Sallie Oviatt, Burritt, Il. age 87 Oct 16, 1884; and Clarisa Towne, w/o Dea. R.K. Towne and mother of O.C. Towne of Carroll, LA. age 78 Nov. 8, 1884; Mrs. Alice Thompson w/o O.C. Thompson Detroit, Michigan age 77 Nov 18, 1884; Mrs. Susan Miller, Hudson, Ohio age 71 June 3, 1884. These being the surviving members of the family of Abraham Thompson of Goshen, Conn (of Puritan Stock). Others present, Mrs. DeLong and daughter of Titusville, PA. granddaughter of Mrs. Sallie Oviatt, the representative of five generations now living; Miss Minnie Miller of Boston, Ohio; Mrs. Harriet Haskel of Rockford; R.R. Coleman, Mrs. Prisler, Mr. and Mrs. A.T. Oviatt of Yellow Creek, Il.; Mrs. J.H. Beach and C. Southard and family.
