There was a review at the Dibble Funeral Home in Kasson on the Wednesday before and for an hour on Thursday, the day of the funeral.
Clarence lived on a farm outside Byron Minnesota until 1988. He retired from farming in 1976. Clarence had driven school bus for the Byron School District in the early 1930's and again from 1960 to 1976. He was a member of the Byron Grange and the Kasson Senior Citizens group.
He had 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Rites for Clarence Tompkins Thursday
KASSON- The funeral for Clarence E. Tompkins will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Byron United Methodist Church with the Revs. Paul Stambaugh and John Morris officiating. Burial will be in Byron Cemetery.
Mr. Tompkins, 80, a retired Byron area farmer, died Sunday at his home.
He was born April 14, 1909, in rural Byron and married Hilda Wuorinen on Nov. 6, 1935 in Norwood, Iowa. The couple farmed in rural Byron until 1976 when they retire. They continued to live on the farm until 1988 when they moved into Kasson. Mr. Tompkins drove a school bus for the Byron School District in the early 1930's and then again from 1960 to 1976. He was a member of the Byron Grange and the Kasson Senior Citizens group.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Russell of Byron and Donald of Austin, Texas; three daughters, Evelyn (Mrs. Iver) Beck of Minnetonka, Kay (Mrs. Gary) Kalis of cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Susan (Mrs. Wayne) Fiyalko of Seminole, Fla.; 12 grand children; and five great grandchildren. A son, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Dibble Funeral Home in Kasson and an hour before the service at the church Thursday.
