DEPUTYS FAMILY VICTIMS

Hamilton County Sheriffs Aid

Hastens to scene of Tragedy.

George Collett, crazed fugitive was a brother-in-law of Modam helton, Deputy Sheriff of Hamilton County, 322 Crescent Avenue, Wyoming, Ohio. Heltons parents, a sister and a brother were among those killed. Another sister and brother were wounded.

First word of the tragedy reached Cincinnati yesterday morning when Mrs. Zella Helton, a sister-in-law of the Hamilton County Deputy, telephoned George Distler, night patrolman of the Wyoming Police Department. Mrs. Heltons husband, Howard Helton, a former resident of Lockland, Ohio, was one of the victims of the gun wielder.

Distler notified Deputy Sheriff Helton, who started immediately for Crab Orchard, Ky., near the scene of the shooting, with his wife and two daughters. They were delayed several hours by a dense fog but arrived yesterday afternoon.

Howard Helton was a resident of Lockland until approximately a year ago, when he returned to Kentucky to help his father in the management of a 400-acre farm. He formerly operated a grocery store between Sheehan and Hartwell Avenues in Hartwell.

Mrs. Zella Helton, who was overlooked by the mad killer, has two sisters in Wyoming. They are Mrs. Jessie Johnson, 74 Clark Road and Mrs. Helen Patrick, 66 Clark Road.
