Hillary Hoskins was born in Bell County, Kentucky on October 10, 1878, and passed away suddenly at his home, on February 14, 1960, at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 4 days. He was the son of the late Esau and Mary Thompson Hoskins. He was united in marriage to Lucy Pursifull 63 years ago, and to this union were born 9 children. Two children preceded him in death. He joined the Calvin Primitive Baptist Church September 3, 1932. He loved the doctrine of Salvation by grace and remained a faithful member of the Church until God saw cause to call him home. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Lucy Hoskins, four sons, three daughters, two brothers, six sisters, 22 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, the Church, and a host of friends. We feel our loss is Brother Hoskins' gain.

Born in Kentucky, Mrs. Hoskins was a daughter of Daniel and Margaret
(Thompson) Hoskins. She was married 67 years ago on December 9, 1896, to
John Hoskins, who survives. She had resided in the Advance community the
last 29 years. She was a member of the Pentacostal Church at Jamestown.
Besides the husband, she is survived by five sons, the Rev. Oscar
Hoskins of Advance, Leonard and Oliver Hoskins of Jamestown, George Hoskins
of Valparaiso, and Eston Hoskins of East Gary; two daughters, Mrs. Elva
McHargue of Gary and Mrs. Byrtle Thompson of Advance; three brothers, Evin
Hoskins of Lily, KY, Charles Hoskins of Salem and John Hoskins of
Middlesburg, KY; a sister, Mrs. Catherine Miracle of Stanford, KY, 34
grandchildren and 66 great-grandchildren.
Funeral sevices will be held at 2 pm Monday at the Pentacostal Church in
Jamestown. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 pm
today at the Walker Funeral Home in Jamestown. She was buried in I.O.O.F.

DEATH: John H. Hoskins, 85 year old retired Boone County farmer, died this
morning at his home in Advance. He had been ill the past three days.
Born in Belle County, KY, he was a son of George and Rhoda (Miracle)
Hoskins. He was the eldest and the last surviving member of a family of ten
children. He was married December 9, 1896, to Sarah Ellen Hoskins, who died
in September 1963. Mr. Hoskins farmed in Boone County 35 years and had lived
in the Advance area the past 29 years.
Mr. Hoskins was a member of the Jamestown Pentecostal Church which his
son, the Rev. Oscar Hoskins of Advance serves as minister.
Survivors are five sons, Rev. Oscar Hoskins, Advance, Oliver and Leonard
Hoskins, Jamestown, George Hoskins of Valparaiso and Eston Hoskins of East
Gary; two daughters: Mrs. Elva Hargue of Gary and Mrs. Byrtle Thompson of
Advance. 34 grandchildren and 66 great-grandchildren.
