Below are the first three geneations. Only my direct line is listed, however, the indiiduals with numbers next to their name do have additional information. DESCENDANTS OF JOHN DEAN Generation No. 1 1. JOHN DEAN was born in TN. He married MARY CARMACK. Child of JOHN DEAN and MARY CARMACK is: 2. i. EZEKIEL DEAN, b. December 30, 1835, Lee County, VA; d. May 18, 1921, Owsley Co., KY. Ezekiel's parent's information is coming from a death certificate I have for Ezekiel Dean. I know that the census records for 1870, 1880, and 1900 Owsley Co., KY, which have been annotated, have that he was born in VA and that his parents are John Dean and Mary Crank; however, I am inclined to go by this death certificate. Jesse Dean, his son, is the informant. The actual census records (which I do have) do not list his parents and we cannot assume that the person transcribing these records is correct or incorrect. I have tried contacting the person who actually transcribed these census records. This person will not return my calls or answer my mail. If anyone has any documented information pertaining to Ezekiel's parents, besides the annotated census records, please contact me. I am not opposed to changing my records if actual proof of his parentage can be proven. Until then, I will be leaving my records as is. Thank you. Generation No. 2 2. EZEKIEL DEAN (JOHN) was born December 30, 1835 in Lee County, VA, and died May 18, 1921 in Owsley Co., KY. He married KEZZIAH BARRETT August 6, 1859 in Clay County, KY, daughter of JESSE BARRETT and MARY/POLLY ASHER. Children of EZEKIEL DEAN and KEZZIAH BARRETT are: 3. i. RACHEL DEAN, b. May 10, 1861; d. November 25, 1933. She married WILLIAM DAVIDSON, son of PERRY DAVIDSON and ELIZABETH BURNS. ii. JOHN DEAN, b. February 25, 1863, Owsley Co., KY; d. Before 1909. 4. iii. MARY JANE DEAN, b. May 15, 1866, Owsley Co., KY; d. February 17, 1935, Owsley Co., KY. She married HARVEY ABNER, son of CASIE ABNER and AILSIE COMBS. 5. iv. ELSIEANN DEAN, b. February 20, 1867, Owsley Co., KY; d. June 28, 1949. She married (1) McHENRY BISHOP. She married (2) RICHARD TIREY. {Information obtained from death certificate # 14942 10/11/2004} 6. v. JAMES DEAN, b. May 7, 1869, Owsley Co., KY; d. Before 1909. He met ELIZABETH RILEY. 7. vi. BRICE DEAN, b. February 25, 1863, Owsley Co., KY; d. August 8, 1957, Owsley Co., KY. He married (1) ARRA DANIEL June 25, 1898, daughter of GEORGE DANIEL and LUCY ALLEN. He married (2) MARY ELLEN RICE 1905. Note - Tombstone has birth date of 2/25/1863, however, records I received from Washington DC, state that he was born 2/25/1871. 8. vii. NANCY MARGARET DEAN, b. September 15, 1874; d. January 1906, Mistletoe, KY. She married BILL CLARK. 9. viii. JESSE DEAN, b. March 10, 1876, Owsley Co., KY; d.June 17, 1930, Owsley Co., KY. He married JANE RILEY 1899. 10. ix. GEORGE WASHINGTON DEAN, b. October 18, 1877, Owsley Co., KY; d. April 30, 1951, Owsley Co., KY. He married MARTHA GAY 1901, daughter of JOHN GAY and CHINA BARGER. 11. x. DANIEL BOONE DEAN, b. September 15, 1879, Owsley Co., KY; d. January 18, 1962, KY. He married IDA NEACE December 2, 1909 in Owsley Co., KY, daughter of WILLIAM NEACE and MARTHA ?. 12. xi. CATTIE DEAN, b. March 15, 1882, Owsley Co., KY. She married (1) GREEN BURNS Abt. 1902. She married (2) BRICE BARRETT Abt. 1922. This information was obtained from Ezekiel Dean's pension records that I received from Washington DC 10/5/2004. Generation No. 3 7. BRICE DEAN (EZEKIEL, JOHN) was born February 25, 1863 in Owsley Co., KY, and died August 8, 1957 in Owsley Co., KY. He married (1) ARRA DANIEL June 25, 1898, daughter of GEORGE DANIEL and LUCY ALLEN. He married (2) MARY ELLEN RICE 1905. Children of BRICE DEAN and ARRA DANIEL are: 16. i. COLSON DEAN, b. April 2, 1896, Booneville (Owsley Co), KY; d. August 27, 1950, Owsley Co., KY. He married (1) MAGGIE BARRETT abt. 1910. He married (2) NANNIE B. MILLER abt. 1917, daughter of WASH MILLER and MARY RICE. He married (3) RUTH HELEN WILDER abt. 1930 in Hamilton, OH, daughter of HENRY WILDER and CATHERINE RICE. 17. ii. ESTHER DEAN, b. April 11, 1898, Owsley Co., KY; d. October 1, 1994, Owsley Co., KY. She married CHESTER RICE January 2, 1918, son of HENRY RICE and MARGARET SANDLIN. 18. iii. LUCY DEAN, b. December 24, 1899; d. January 16, 1998. She married THOMAS HOLCOMB 1917. Children of BRICE DEAN and MARY RICE are: 19. iv. BRADLEY DEAN, b. September 4, 1904, Owsley Co., KY; d. April 9, 1990, Owsley Co., KY.
