     Peleg Tripp Of Stillwater, NY when he served in the Revolutionary War (S.23031, National Archives, Washington, DC).¹ He was born on 1 December 1755 at Narragansett, South Kingston, Washington Co., RI.¹ He was the son of Major Caleb Tripp and Mary Everitt.¹ Peleg Tripp married Mary Sammist. Peleg Tripp died before 19 February 1839 at Warrensburg, Warren Co., NY.¹

     Father M.R. Burns witnessed the marriage of Thomas Burns and Mary Laura Smith on 26 July 1895 at Watertown, Jefferson Co., NY; Mary's father and stepmopther objected to marriage; why not known. Religion not issue; all concerned were RC. Fr Maurice R Burns (no relation) arrived Watertown 2 Jun 1895 as pastor of unnamed new parish (it would later be named Holy Family); Tom and Mary first couple he married. No church bldg yet, so Fr Burns rented auditorium of Washington Hall, where he said masses on Sundays and holy days for over a year. Not known where Tom-Mary wedding was performed; could have been Washington Hall or St Patrick's. Dtr Laura's obit says they were 1st couple married in Holy Family's "graystone structure", but that can't be true, because that bldg not built yet.^1,2

     Catherine Tripp was born on 15 February 1772.¹ She was the daughter of Thomas Tripp and Tacy Coon.¹ Catherine Tripp married Samuel Waldo on 1 November 1791.¹ Catherine Tripp died on 27 March 1793 at age 21.¹
