Death of Otis Hackleman
Otis Hackleman,
79, retired farmer of the Cedar Springs vicinity, died Monday at the Humansville
hospital, where he had entered as a patient Saturday.
Mr. Hackleman
had been in declining health for several years.
He was born June
12, 1887, one of five children of W.E. and Frances Hackleman. He spent his
entire life in Cedar county.
He was married
to Doris Johnston July 3, 1915. To this union five children were born. His wife
preceded him in death in 1932. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mrs.
Naomi Casey, December 15, 1964.
Survivors are
three daughters, Helen Smith and Gertrude Richards, El Dorado Springs, Billie
Kelley, Hanford, Calif.; two sons, Roy E. Hackleman and Robert G. Hackleman, El
Dorado Springs; one brother, C.E. Hackleman, El Dorado Springs; 12 grandchildren
and one great-grandchild.
From 1919 to
1937 he was postmaster at Pleasant View. From that time he engaged in farming
until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of the Woodmen of the World lodge
and served as secretary for many years.
Funeral services
were held at 1 o'clock Wednesday at the Gwinn-Crothers chapel. Officiating was
Bernard Mitchell of Mt. Vernon, Mo. Cremation.
