It is my strongest belief that DNA and science, combined with the traditional methodology of good old fashioned hard work using the traditional method will really produce same amazing results.  Most of us begin to hit serious brick walls and/or become suspect of speculative ancestor attachments when we take our research back to the 1700's or earlier.  The use of science is now beginning to really help the momentum of more accurate genealogy.  We may not always be able to find those missing and sometimes ambiguous documents from long ago, but each of us carries a part of the genetic blueprint that has been handed down from generation to generation.

I can't stress enough how important genetics is going to be in order to take our research further. Be a part of one of these projects.  If you are not a son of a son of son, etc., you can still help by sponsoring other male descendants.  It is very important. You can contact a project coordinator for your given surname.  They can usually answer all of the important questions you may have like confidentiality, the science of DNA and genealogy, etc.  There is also a good FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section for each surname.  I strongly recommend doing at least the 37 marker test.
