Leonard Swain, A. M., D. D., Congregationalist, son of Richard and Sally (Damon) Swain, was born Feb 26, 1821. Preparatory studies at West Mendon, N. Y. Graduated at Dartmouth College, 1841, and Andover Theological Seminary, 1846. Teacher, Derry, 1841-3. Ordained paster, Pearl Street Church, Nashua, June 24, 1847; dismissed, April 5, 1852. Installed, Central Church, Providence, R. I., Sept 29, 1852. D. D. from Brown University, 1857. Died in office, Providence, R. I., July 14, 1869.
Married Julia M., Daughter of Dea. Abner Allen of Lebanon, Aug 24, 1847. She died April 9, 1866.
