When/where was Elizabeth born

All these are in Islington so well away from Northampton - what do people say if they came from a small place near a major centre?

1851 Elizabeth Russell 36 so 1814/5 Not known - George shown as Northampton, Hackleton and they had visitors from North Hackleton.
1861 Elizabeth Russell 45 so 1815/6 Northampton same as husband see note.
1871 Elizabeth Russell 55 so 1815/6 Harlestone, Northamptonshire whereas George shows Brafield
1881 Elizabeth RUSSELL 65 so 1815/6 Northampton same as George

In all census both George and Elizabeth always the same age so which is the actual.
George was baptised 20 Jul 1818 at All Saints so perhaps he is calculating his age incorrectly.

1861 George is shown as Charles and trade is Marine Store Dealer not Shoemaker or Labourer so I think enumerator muddled the return and perhaps there was a Charles missed from report or George may have wanted to change name and they changed back. The children and ages match across censuses. Although they say Northampton their daughters are shown as All Saints - why would they not show which part of Northampton if they came from the town itself.

It does not look like Elizabeth was baptised in Harlestone so did she live for a time as a child. Was she really from Northampton town

Where was Elizabeth born

Harlestone is near Princess Diana's family home and also house said to be Jane Austen's Mansfield Park

see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harlestone

except Marilyn found nothing in Harlestone.

Hardingstone was suggested but nothing found there either

Richard is looking at CDs he has 10 April 2009

FreeREG possible

Daventry Holy Cross 03 Oct 1815 Elizth. to Jane PENN
but that is not Hardingstone or Harlestone. but age is good - I assume that is likely all you would get from a register.
Is it possible this Jane PENN is from Harlestone?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daventry seems to include Harlestone in Daventry district

Who were the witnesses at Elizabeth's wedding

Oh I see Richard found names were Ann Penn and a John or Tom - most likely John
If Tom then this could be right age
THOMAS PENN Christening: 30 OCT 1809 Wellingborough, Northampton Father: THOMAS PENN Mother: MARY

The Russell children

Mary Ann, Eliza aka Elizabeth, Lucy , George, Harriet, John James, William Charles.

FreeREG found July 2012

Northamptonshire Daventry Methodist Chapel at Long Buckby which is 6 miles NW of Harlestone as she said in one census as place born
Perhaps they lived in Harlestone and went to Chapel nearby

Eliza Penn Birth date 09 Jan 1815 Baptism date 13 Apr 1815 Daventry Wesleyan Methodist to William and Mary NORTHAMPTONSHIRE: Daventry (Wesleyan): Births & Baptisms

1815

23 Sep 1809 25 Apr 1813 Wm to Wm PENN & Mary TONSON - presumably birth date is correct but the baptisms are a year after their marriage see below Feb 1812 - I wonder if they had some ceremony at the chapel but then found to be legal it had to be at C of E

30 Oct 1812 25 Apr 1813 Ann to Wm PENN & Mary TONSON - well that birth is ok for Feb 1812 marriage

25 Jun 1820 29 Oct 1829 Mary to William PENN & Mary JOHNSON FatherOccupation Labourer
Notes Mary's parents were William and Mary Johnson - I suppose it means Mary the mother
and the TONSON in other baptisms must be

Well if Eliza is my Elizabeth then that is reinforced by her own daughter being known as both names - the names indeed seem interchangeable in early 1800s (Jane Austen Eliza/Elizabeth Bennett) and 1815 sure matches her usual birth year as per census

One son is named Wm per her father and sibling

Ann is a witness to her marriage

and Mary Ann is a daughter and she has sisters Mary and Ann

And the witness John well there is a very likely possible cousin in same area of Daventry.

Daventry
Holy Cross 24 Jul 1800 06 Jan 1801 John to Richard Hannah PENN - Father Occupation Stockinger
