Now refer to 1809 WILLIAM LANKSHEAR - parents William and Ann who is the husband

which says LANSHEAR, Charlotte, HD, w 35, Labourer, OXF Witney

Comments from Jane C July 2003 - More on the William Lankshear son of William & Ann: from Ann's will you knew already that her son was dead by 1846 and had several children. I have found matching baptisms in the Witney church register, all given as children of William and Charlotte:
Mary Ann Lankashire, bapt 1835
Betsy Lankshire, bapt 1838 (the one later called Elizabeth)
Charlotte Lankeshire, bapt 1840 (presumably died young)
Robert Lankshear, bapt 1841
Susanna Lankshear, bapt 1843
Charlotte Lankshear, bapt 1845
(father's occupation given as baker 1835, 1843, 1845 and as labourer 1840, 1841)
The 1845 baptism does not say that William was dead, but we know from Ann's will that Charlotte was born after her father died. This fits with the burial in 1844 of a 34 year old William Lankshear at Witney St Mary

1842 William Lankshear - Baker High St Witney

Charlotte was still in Witney in 1851, listed on the census transcript as Charlotte Lanshear. She was then a labourer aged 35. There were six children with her, Mary A. (15, a piecer at the mill), Elizabeth (13), Robert (10), Susanna (7), Charlotte (2) and [the surprise!] a 2 month old baby called Harriett Lankshear. The Witney St Mary baptism register has the baptism on 2 Feb 1851 of Harriett, daughter of Charlotte Lankshear. The father is not named but obviously could not have been William Lankshear!
