Photos of Matilda Lankshear and her friends the Jacobs - Ashfield NSW

for family see 1863 John LANKSHEAR marriage to Rebecca WALTERS COOMA

and also Photos of daughters of John Lankshear - Ashfield NSW

A descendant of Eugenie sent me these photos as he found my site with Julie's photos and following contact with Julie - Scott was very excited that Julie found an even older photo of his ancestors.

MATILDALANKSHEAR.jpg (40687 bytes)

Matilda Lankshear born 22-6-1877

Known to nieces as "Aunt Pat" probably from Aunt Mat.

and to friends as Tilly

And one very good friend from Wagga was Eugenie Rochard

jacobs1888Henry-Eugenie.jpg (173073 bytes) Eugenie married Henry Hay Jacobs and as in this cabinet card Eugenie is pregnant with her youngest child Lil that puts the date as the Australian Summer November 1888 to January 1889.

Amazing that unknowingly this was with Lankshear family and now through the internet it is back with their descendant.

and here they some time after 1896

And they also moved from Wagga Wagga to Ashfield

Jacobs109frederickst-1920.jpg (238202 bytes)

They had a shop at 109 Frederick St

You can see the children in the next photo

Jacobs-TarongaZoo1920.jpg (366517 bytes)

A day at Taronga Zoo around 1920

The people are l-r:

children - Doris Marlin, Bob Jacobs, Elvie Marlin,
Lil Marlin(Jacobs), Kathleen Jacobs, Eugenie Jacobs, Miss Lankshear (Tilly)

Kathleen & Bob were an aunt and her child visiting from NZ.

The dress Eugenie Jacobs is wearing in the picture at the zoo was definitely made by Miss Lankshear.

Jacobs1920kids.jpg (101580 bytes)

The children looks like on same day in 1920

Jacobs1907.jpg (294877 bytes)Cyril Jacobs was taken in 1907, so the date is original. On the back he states that the photo is his own work. A fact which I found very interesting. Funny that you should comment on his clothes, he was known in the family as the 'dandy'.Jacobscyril-original.jpg (156348 bytes)  I am impressed by your interest in the fashions of the old photo's. This interest, along with facial details has enabled me to identify a lot of unmarked photo's which I recently inherited.  I would be happy for you to use the photo if it would help your website. The details of the picture are: Cyril Jacobs b. 1883, Wagga Wagga, d.1949, Dunedin, NZ.

For purists original on right and B&W with some sharpen filter on left
