Researchers - suggestions for employing someone for UK research
This was originally on my UK Military page but comes up a lot so I have made a separate page. Sometimes you may need to employ someone to do research particularly if you need deep searches at Kew for Military service records etc.
If you need a researcher TNA/PRO did have some suggestions http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/irlist/
This man I know through email and he will give advice - Forrest Anderson, Edinburgh, Scotland. E-mail: [email protected] Website: www.military-researcher.com
As also Helen Curtis at www.genealogicalservices.co.uk or http://www.the-website.co.uk/genealogicalservices/ as Forrest - Helen also covers Scotland
This researcher http://www.militaryresearchon.com/ was suggested to me as they have all charges up front.
Helen Whittle was also recommended by an Australian as inexpensive and efficient - a link to her is here http://www.ukgenealogy.co.uk/ssx.htm
http://www.joymurrin.com.au/ - Australian based - Joyce has been highly recommended to me.
Of course I can only tell you that these people appear to be of integrity - I accept no responsibility for your using their services.
Mid 2005 I heard of one researcher in bad heatth who had sold the business to some else and it looks like bad news - people have been charged high fees on their credit cards - make sure you get a quote - most of the above use PayPal at which I understand you only pay what you want as opposed to handing your credit card to an "unknown" charge.
I only list people that have been recommended to me - I am not listing any one unless I have heard good news only.
