Mrs. Albertina Melin, residing in Leaf Valley, died yesterday, aged sixty-six years and four months. The funeral will take place on Saturday afternoon at one o'clock from the house and three o'clock from the Swedish Lutheran church of Ida. Mrs. Melin's husband died some time ago and for years past she resided on the old homestead with her son, Axel E. Melin. Mrs. Melin's maiden name was Albertina Engstrom, and she was born on Feb. 14, 1844. She was married at Houghton, Mich, in 1865. Her children, Charles J., Victor, and Albert of Ida, Mrs. Hannah Monson of Moorhead, Mrs. Sophia Kolberg of Brandon and Axel E. Melin were able to be present at her bedside at the end. There also survives her a brother, Charles Thoren of Negaunee, Mich., and a half-sister, Mrs. G. A. Anderson of Carlos.
Mrs. Albertina Melin died at her home in Leaf Valley yesterday at 11:30 in the forenoon after a seige of sickness of nearly two years duration. She was born in Norkoping, Sweden, Feb. 14, 1844, and was married in Michigan, in 1865, to Andrew Melin. To this union six children were born, Charley, Victor and Albert of town of Ida, Mrs. Monson of Moorhead, Mrs. Ole Kolberg, Brandon and Axel E. Monson who is at home. One brother, C. Thorson of Michigan and a half sister, Mrs. A. G. Anderson also remain.
The funeral will be held Saturday at one o'clock from the house and at three o'clock from the Swedish Lutheran church in Ida, Rev. Mattson officiating.
Mrs. Melin has been a resident of Douglas County since 1875 and is very well and favorably known.
