Mrs. Gunhild Hanson passed away at her home east of Brandon March 2nd at 2 o'clock, after a short illness.

Mrs. Hanson was born in Nedre Stordalen, Norway, January 15, 1842, which left her 78 years old at the time of her death. She was married to Hans Peter Hanson in 1864, left Norway in 1867 and located at Goodhue county, where they stayed two years. In the summer of 1868 they came to Douglas county and settled on the homestead in Brandon township, where they have since resided.

To their marriage were born 14 children, which are Ludvig Hanson, who lives in Brandon township; Mrs. Trovatten of Barnsville; Thosten, who died eight years ago; Mrs. Thos. Setnan of Minneapolis; Halvor, of Hammer, S. D.; Mrs. Joseph Holt of Badger, Minn.; John of Lake Mills, Iowa; Mrs. Phillips of Potrland [sp], Ore., Ida, who died eighteen years ago; George, who is on the home farm; Mrs. Nelson, of Mill City, Ore.; Johanna, deceased; and John, who is staying at home. All the children were present at the funeral except Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Nelson of Oregon. The funeral occurred from the house and from the Brandon Free Church, of which deceased had been a faithful member, Saturday afternoon, Rev. C. Franstad officiating. Her son, Rev. John Hanson, also spoke a few words. Special singing was rendered by the Elness quartette. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Interment was in the cemetery south of Brandon, beside her husband and children.

The honorary pall bearers were O. F. Olson, Anton Strom, Andrew Knudson, Wigo Werner, John Linnard and John Thompson. Active pall bearers were Peter Undlin, John Holgrimson, Halvor Evjue, Charles Hermanson, Martin Skrone and Nils Hoplin.

Other relatives besides the children who attended the funeral were Thos. Setnan of Minneapolis, Mr. Trovatta and daughter, Mrs. Harry Hulbert, of Barnesville; Mrs. Halvor Hanson and children of Hammer, S. D.; Peder Hofdahl and daughter, Ida, of Kenyon, Minn.; Miss Lily Hanson of Minneapolis; Fritz Aanenson and Mr. Nelson of Evansville.
