Funeral Services For A. V. Melin Held Thursday

Funeral services for A. V. Melin were held on Thursday, March 24, at the Engstrom Funeral Home at 2:00 oclock P.M., with Rev. N. C. Noreen officiating. Mrs. Hilmer Peterson sang "Rock of Ages" and "Nearer My God To Thee."

The pallbearers were Axel T. Melin, Harvey Kolberg, Carl Peterson, Edwin N. Sanstead, Hilding Peterson, and Arvid Melin.

Interment was made in the Kinkead cemetery at Alexandria.

Mr. Melin passed away Monday, March 21, at St. Lukes Hospital in Alexandria.

A. V. Melin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Melin, was born on Dec. 18, 1873, at Ispheming [sp], Mich. He attained the age of 81 years, 3 months and 3 days at the time of his death. As a small child he moved with his parents to Carlos, where they lived for a short time. They then moved to Leaf Valley township where he grew to manhood. On Nov. 20, 1909, he was married to Augusta Wehelmina Peterson. After their marriage they purchased a farm in Ida township where he has lived since that time.

He was confirmed in the Lake Ida Lutheran church. For the past 30 years he has attended the Lake Chippewa Mission Covenant church, where he was a member.

He is survived by his wife and 2 daughters, Lillian and Margaret, and one son, Fred G. W. Melin. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
