Amanda Ekblad Melin was born in Ida twp. on May 11, 1888 the daughter of Erick and Gunill Ekblad.

Mrs. Melin has been a resident of Alexandria for 37 years and a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church. In 1944 she became a member of the Lyra Chapter No. 166 Order of Eastern Star. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxillary, Unit 87 for many years.

Amanda Melin passed away Saturday, July 3, 1971 at the Viking Towers where she was a resident.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Doris) Wertz of Pickerington, Ohio, 1 son, Captain Kenneth Meliin [sp], Naval Air Station, Paturent River, Maryland; 3 sisters, Euricka Ekblad of Alexandria; Ida Ekblad of Evansville and Josephine Olson of Sacramento, California and 6 grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held Wednesday, July 7, 1971, 1:30 p.m., at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Alexandria with William W. Bruggeman officiating. Organist was Mr. Dale Olson.

Pallbearers were Earl Scrogum, Delmore Gustafson, Joe Backlin, Vernon Lanning, Ed Ormseth and Arthur Ellis.

Interment was at Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria. Services were conducted by the Alexandria Funeral Home.
