Funeral services for James Leon Goree will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2007 in the First United Methodist Church in Glenmora with the Rev. William McDonald officiating. Committal services will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Mr. Goree, 73, of Glenmora entered eternal rest on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 in Alexandria. He was born on November 17, 1933 to the union of Walter Bradford Goree and Gussie Eleanor Myers Goree in Glenmora. He graduated from Glenmora High School as Valedictorian and received his BS in Personnel Management from LSU. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a Specialist for two years. He was a Mason since 1967 and he was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Glenmora. He also was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

His parents, Walter and Gussie Goree; one brother, Bobby Goree and one sister, Melba Morgan precedes him in death.

He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memories, wife of forty-five years, Alice W. Goree of Glenmora; three sons, Michael Goree and wife Yvette of Glenmora; Patrick Goree and wife Teresa of Lake Charles; and Burl Goree and wife Kimberly of Ruston; two daughters, Mary Moore and husband John of Glenmora; and Sara Chapman and husband Hayden of Pine Prairie; three brothers, Walter Goree of Houston, Texas; Bill Goree of Glenmora and Mack Goree of Mt. Home, Arkansas; two sisters, Bettye Perritt of Frisco, Texas and Ruthie Goree of Houston, Texas; fifteen grandchildren, Derek, Joshua, Casey, Matthew, Taylor, Dylan, Adam, Alex, Logan, Sunni, Alyson, Collin, Brannon, Elizabeth and Luke.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Michael Goree, Patrick Goree, Burl Goree, Brian Goree, John Moore and Hayden Chapman. Honorary pallbearers honored to serve will be Harold “Happy” Elliott and W.C. Pringle.

Friends may call today from 8 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. in the church.
