The Nitteberg name first began in Norway. It is a farm name from the Gjerdrum, Akershus Fylke area which is near Oslo. This family history covers the Nitteberg name back to 1763 and as you will see the names change with each generation as it was customary for the son and daughter to take the father's given name as their last name, thus becoming Jacobsen or Jacobsdatter and so on. I have been working nearly 18 years on getting this information together with many intermissions. If you find you have an ancestor that is listed here, please contact me and we can exchange information!
