13 May 1750 Giles HUDSPETH bought from Ralph HUDSPETH, 320 acres

for 10 pounds. (Edgecombe Co. NC Deed Book 3, p 527)

19 Aug 1751 Giles sold 320 acres to William Reves for 50 pounds.

Col. William Eaton, Capt. Andrew Hampton's company, Granville Co. N.C.
[Note: Carter HEDGPETH (his brother) was a corporal

1762 Ghiles/Giles HUDSPETH on Granville Co. N.C.tax list,
Oxford Dist. He declared 1 poll for himself.
Living nearby were his father Ralph; brothers Ralph & Carter, half-
brother(?) Aris; and Osbourne HEDGPETH whose relationship I don't
know. Also 4 BRADFORD's: Philemon Sr. & Jr., Richard & Thomas. 2

4 Mar 1778 Giles HUDSPETH named sole executor of will of son William HUDSPETH. Heirs named were his "younger brethren" Benjamin amd Charles HUDSPETH; however, if either should die without issue his part to be returned to Giles. Witnesses: Hugh LEWIS, John WALLACE,
& David HUDSPETH. Will probated May 1778 in Surry Co. N.C. 10

who died in Granville Co., N.C. 11

1782 Jiles HUDSPETH on Surry Co., N.C. tax list. Listed were
408 acres, 3 slaves, 8 horses, & 11 cattle. Value 468 pounds. [Note: I copied the list from an LDS film, but did not record the number.
Jiles' property was adjacent to the COE family. Two of his daughters married COE sons]

1784-1787 Giles HUDSPETH is not listed on the N.C. State Census.
[Note: I believe he was in Surry Co., N.C. at
the time. It appears that all the people in his district (Mosby's District for the 1782 tax
list) may have been missed in this census.] 12

9 Feb 1790 Giles HUDSPETH deeded to Benjamin HUDSPETH (his son)
for 400 pounds, 200 acres West side Yadkin River, South side Joseph
Creek (in Surry Co., N.C.) and "where said Benjamin Hamine HUDSPETH
do now live", adjoining Abraham CRESON. 13

9 Feb 1790 Giles HUDSPETH deeded to Charles HUDSPETH (his son)
for 400 pounds, 208 acres West side Yadkin River and North side
Joseph Creek "where Giles HUDSPETH do now live", adjoining Henry

census of Surry Co., Salisbury District, N.C.:
2 males over 15, 3 females, and 14 slaves.

1790-1793 Giles HUDSPETH had land deeded to him in Granville
Co., N,C, from the State 16

3 Aug 1792 Giles & Elizabeth HUDSPETH granted in the will of
their son Benjamin the use during their lifetimes of the land in
their possession. Direct heirs of Benjamin's will were wife Melley, children Giles, Morgan, Tomson/Johnson & Sarah, and a negro Hester.
Executors: John HUDSPETH & Isaiah COE. Witnesses: George HUDSPETH,
James HOWELL, & John COE. Probated in Surry Co. N.C. Nov 1792. 17

[Note: There are slight differences between the 2 copies of Benjamin's will. Settlement of Benjamin's estate involved several court proceedings. The last one I've found is the
settlement for orphans, Samuel DAVIS, guardian, 12 Jan 1803.]

adjoining Henry SPEER: being land Jiles HUDSPETH sold Charles
HUDSPETH 9 Feb 1790 but Jiles and wife, Elizabeth, to have lifetime
claim by paying a yearly rent of 10 shillings to said Charles
Hudspeth. Witnesses: William THORNTON & George HUDSPETH.
