Portpatrick Death Register, 1783-1818

The following is a transcription of the death entries in Portpatrick's old parish records for the period of 1783-1818. Every effort was made to remain true to the information, but it is possible that a few misinterpretations have crept into the work. We encourage researchers to use this only as a finding tool, and to verify the information for themselves by viewing the source material themselves.

Please note, the years are not in sequential order. The transcription appears in order of entry. There are entries for 1783, 1784 and 1785 (including an odd 1841 note). Then there is a lapse. A new register page begins with the title D. 1813-1815. Blank from 1785. The next page has a few baptismal records, followed by another ornate heading: "A Registry of Deaths and Funerals in the parish of Portpatrick form the 1st August 1817". It begins with 1817 records, continues to 1818, and then finishes with records from 1813, indicating that the information was entered long after the event.
