Welcome!

When I first started my research the the only thing I knew for sure was that my Grandfather was Jack LeMire and my Grandmother was Luella Hendrickson. That was it! Of the two, I only knew my grandmother since Jack died in WWII. This is where it all began for me. I heard a bunch of crazy stories about how he died. First I heard about the Bataan death march, then something about prison camps in the Philippines and finally his death in a Japanese prison camp. There was also something mentioned about him being on ships that were bombed but know one seemed to know for sure. After hearing these stories I decided to go through all of my grandmother's stuff that my father had given me years before. After digging out all of her stuff from the back of my closet sure enough there were newspaper clippings, pictures, postcards and an assortment of other items. I was hooked on research after this!

When I talked with my father and my uncle about their grandparents they didn't know who they were! I was a bit shocked by this but then I realized when they left Nebraska and Jack went off to war, they were on there own in San Francisco with no other relatives around. They were lucky to get by let alone travel back home.

Without the knowledge of my father's  grandparents and minimal knowledge of my mother's father and her grandparents  my research was going to be tough but this was also the fun part, starting from nothing. This site is my attempt to layout what I have found so far in the research of my family tree. I considered many other ways of doing this, pedigree sheets, binders full of papers, ancestry sites, etc. but none of them can seem to get it quite the way I want to do it. Things become confusing and it's very easy to get lost. Creating a webpage seems like the best way to navigate this collection of information.

This website isn't nearly complete. Currently I've only been working in depth on my Lemire line. Most of the summary pages that I have created to date are for the Lemire's and their branches within the United States. I have so much more on this line in Quebec, so much so that it's overwhelming when I start to think of the effort it will take to layout the Canadian Lemire's. I'll do this last. I do have a lot of info on my other three lines as well and will  include them on this web site as my next task. Because of time constraints though, I haven't got to it yet. This website will take the rest of my life to finish!!!

In the mean time I have the default templates exported out from RootsMagic on this website for all my Lemire's without summary sheets. The same for my other lines. They have all the important source information on them. So here we go...

The LeMire's

The Lemire's have deeps roots in the Québec region of Canada. The first Lemire, Jean Lemire,  took the treacherous trip across the Atlantic to this strange new world called New France around 1650 leaving behind surely a more comfortable life in the region of La Rochelle, Manche, Basse-Normandie in France. His final destination would be in Québec.

The Hendrickson's

Coming from a long line of farmer's in Sweden, Fred Anders Hendricsson ventured off to the United States in 1879 in the hopes of taking advantage of the vast amount of farm land the United States had to offer. Back in Sweden, because of the population explosion, poor economics and agricultural hardships, things were becoming very difficult and America had a lot to offer.

Once in America, Fred would meet my Great grandmother Annie Danielsdotter and were married in 1886 in Nebraska. Eventually the Hendrickson's would own their own farm and raise 8 kids which included my Grandmother Luella Hendrickson.
