Charley at the Doud Farm | Charley and Brother Henry in Minnesota

The 1900 Federal Census shows Charley with a partner farming at Mariposa, Jasper, Iowa. This is shown at the same address for his father and mother.

In researching the Lemke history, I have formed an opinion that the 9 children were very close and tended to stay together in groups of two or three. Thus said, the towns of Selby SD and Bowlde SD are prominately displayed as in the history of Bowlde the Lemke name is shown several times. It may prove that there is not a connection, but until the research is complete in Mecklenburg-Schwerin and some lemke descendants are found still living in South Dakota, we can not close the book on this. Charley was living in Selby South Dakota when his mother Mary died in 1938.
