Booth Notebooks - Stepney Union Workhouse - 1889

Some time back I found out one of my ancestors, George Richard Lenson, was an inmate at the Stepney Union Workhouse in East London.  I don't yet know when his stay began but I do know he died in 1886.  In searching the web I came across the Charles Booth collection at http://booth.lse.ac.uk/ .  This collection focuses on life in London in the latter part of the 19th century, in particular, the poor in London.  Buried in one of their web pages was a picture of one of the notebooks showing current inmates of the Stepney Workhouse ( see http://booth.lse.ac.uk/static/a/5_2.html#iii and http://booth.lse.ac.uk/images/samples/b167/jpg/b167-1039.jpg).  The notebook looked like it might help me find information about George Lenson.  Alas, I discovered it was made in 1889, three years after my ancestor died.

With the permission of Sue Donnelly, Archivist at the London School of Economics and Political Science, I am posting here a list of those people documented in the Booth Stepney Union Workhouse notebooks.  There is more information for each of the following people that might be of value to a family historian.  You may find parents names, names of spouses parents, children, other family members, occupations, and so on.

If you find someone of interest to you, I suggest you contact the LSE at:

I hope this helps someone.
