I have not researched this side of my family very much, therefore there is not a lot recorded on these pages.

I have not shown ALL my information on these pages but, in-time I will work on up-dating these pages.  Some information may be incorrect and, there is much detail still to find.  I welcome any contacts with new and/or, correct information or, just to make contact with me.  Please go back to my HomePage for my contact details.

My Ancestors - Irish Connection

I only go back to about, the 1800's.  My early Lawlor ancestors came from Killahan, Kerry, Ireland.

MAURICE LAWLOR had a son Jeremiah Lawlor (I am sure there was more children), who was born in 1852 and died in 1917 in Ireland.

Jeremiah married Catherine CARROLL.  She was born in 1852 and also died in Ireland.  They had seven children:

Maurice Lawlor     1878 -
Jeremiah Lawlor     1883 -
Hannah Lawlor     1884 - 1959
Ellie Lawlor     1886 -
Catherine Mary Lawlor     1887 - 1966
Bridget Lawlor     1890 - 1952
Garrett Lawlor     1893

The only children to come and live in New Zealand were; Hannah, Catherine and, Bridget.

Maurice (1878) married and had five children.  Ellie married a Dan McKenna and they had one child.

Catherine married Walter George Warren on 21 December 1918 in Auckland.  They had five children - Mary, Arthur William, Maurice Patrick, Walter Brian and, Joseph Michael Valentine.

The family moved around the upper North Island to work on many jobs, during the depression years of 1932-1936.  After the depression years, the family settled in Greeton, Tauranga.  About 1957, Catherine moved to Ponsonby Home in Auckland and, spent her last two weeks of life at her son Maurice's home in Tauranga.  She died on 13th March 1966.

Of Catherine's and Walter's children; Mary became a nunn and, has now retired and lives in Stratford; Arthur never married and died on 14th February 1988 in Hastings; Maurice married and adopted one child but, Maurice died on 01 April 1984 in Tauranga; Walter married Catherine Lucy Christian and they have seven children and, they live in Putaruru where Walter retired in 1991; Joseph married and had four children and, still lives in Tauranga.

Bridget Lawlor
b. 1890   d. 1952

Bridget arrived in New Zealand with her sister Catherine, on board the ship "S.S. Ruahine" in Wellington on 10th January 1910.

Bridget and her sister Catherine travelled to Gisborne after arriving in Wellington.  They came to Gisborne because their older sister Hannah, was already there working for CJ Parker of Emerald Hills who was related to the Lawlors.  When Bridget and Catherine arrived it had been arranged that Bridget would work for the Quinns and, Catherine would work for the DJ Barry family who had a big liquor store.

Bridget married Edmond Thomas Murphy on 01 November 1911 in Gisborne.  They had nine children - Kathleen (Kitty) Bridget, Michael Edmund, Patrick John, Mary (Molly) Winifred, Dorothy Joan, Maurice Lawlor, Nancy Mary, Kevin Anthony Thomas and, Brian Joseph.

Bridget died 15 August 1952 in Gisborne and, Edmund died 31 October 1980.
