F, (11 March 1823 - 18 April 1893)
FatherBenjamin Culpepper of Dooly Co., GA (c 1792 - 9 Oct 1851)
MotherNancy Horne (c 1805 - )
Biography* Obituary:
Mrs. Mary A. Sinclair died near Tifton on the night of the 18th inst., aged about 71 years. Mrs. Sinclair lived for several years near Red Oak church, in Worth, while the county was in its infancy, but about the beginning of the war moved with her husband, Dr. Sinclair, to Irwin. There the husband and companion of her youth was stricken down by the angel of death, and she was left during the trying days of reconstruction to battle with the world alone, with a number of little children dependent on her for their food and education. But undaunted and bravely she took up the burden of duty, and how well it was borne the large concourse of her descendants who gathered around her funeral bier to pay the last sad tribute to the parent who had filled the place of both tfather and mother to them testifies.

She was for over thirty years a member of the Missionary Baptist church, and through the toil and trials of middle life was strengthened and consoled by an abiding faith in Him who doeth all things well. In her declining years this belief in Christ was her chief solace, and the journey down through the valley of the shadow of death was made one of joy and hope through the glorious, promise of a meeting with the Savior and dear.2

Biography* Mary Beth Marchant wrote on 5 Jan 2007:
"Robert Davis Sinclair was a Medical Doctor. He practiced medicine in the Zion Hope Community. Dr. Sinclair was married twice. His first wife Barbara Fulton, was born in Georgia. John Duncan was a child of Barbara Fulton.
According to new information I have received I now believe that R.D. Sinclair and first wife Barbara had 4 sons and 1 or 2 daughters born by and before 1836. There is on file at Red Oak Baptist Church a set of papers with some of the information being provided by Winnie Sinclair Paul."

DR. R.D. SINCLAIR, 1802-1862
R.D. Sinclair was born March 6, 1802 in York District, South Carolina. Dr. Sinclair came to Zion Hope Community looking for a home. He bought a farm and had a house built. He returned to Albany for one year, then came to live in the Zion Hope Community in 1848. Dr. and Mrs. Sinclair and their seven children lived on a farm located about one mile northeast of the present Abraham Baldwin College. From there he practiced medicine for miles around. He helped, in 1859, to constitute the Zion Hope Baptist Church, which is located about one mile west of the old Sinclair farm. This farm was then located in Irwin County, and Tifton was then in Berrien County, but the farm has been in Tift County since Tift County was created in 1905. Dr. Sinclair was the third person buried in the Zion Hope Church cemetery. He died June 11, 1862. Mr. Elias L. Webb states that as far as he knows, his grandfather, Dr. R.D. Sinclair, was the first medical doctor in this immediate section of Georgia. The George, Henry, and Elias Webb families are descendants of Dr. Sinclair.2
