Photographed* | circa 1900 | She was photographed circa 1900 From Shirley Brook: 'I talked with my Aunt Carey C. Manire. Mary Alvie Culpepper Schubert (1891 Macon, Georgia -1953 Houston, Harris, Texas), daughter of Eula and Warren Ebenezer Culpepper was the owner of the pictures. She had them enlarged and framed from a smaller picture. Aunt Alvie always told Carey they were pictures of her parents. My Aunt Carey was raised by Alvie and Ed Schubert, and grew up knowing who the pictures were of. Eula has her hair pulled back in the picture. Carey does not know when nor where the pictures were taken. She guesses about the turn of the century, since they died 1904 and 1907."2 |
Death* | 11 October 1904 | She died at Orange, Orange Co., Texas, on 11 October 1904 at age 38 Obituary: Another sad death has visited Orange and another young matron has been called to her reward from earthly cares to a home of peace and rest above. Mrs. Eula Culpepper, wife of Mr. W E Culpepper, died at the family home in this city, Wednesday morning at 4 o'clock after a lingering illness of several months, at the age of 39, leaving a family of seven children, some of whom are quite young and needful of a mother's loving care. Mrs. Culpepper was born in Florida in 1865, where she grew up, and from there moved with her parents to Scranton, MS, where she was married, and from which place she removed with her husband to Orange some two years ago. Her health did not admit to her getting out much and she consequently made but few aquaintances in her new home; but those who knew her pronounce her of a most lovable disposition. She was a member of the Baptist church. Her funeral took place Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, and her remains were laid to rest by relatives and friends with loving care in Evergreen cemetery. The sympathy of the town goes out to the sorrowing husband, and the bereaved little ones deprived of a mother's tender and loving care.
