Marriage*7 November 1895 She married Alonzo L. Harris at Bastrop Co., Texas, on 7 November 1895 at age 18. Alonzo and Julia had six children, all born in Bastrop Co., TX:
Deulah Evaline Harris, born 6 Nov 1896

Lola Elizabeth Harris, born 23 Aug 1902
Alma Nettie Harris, born 16 Oct 1907
Amos Claude Harris, born 19 Jan 1910
A. D. Harris, born 30 Dec 1911.2,1
Married Name7 November 1895  As of 7 November 1895, her married name was Harris.
(Daughter) Photographedsay 1908 She appeared as a daughter in a family photograph say 1908 at Bastrop Co., Texas,
From Russell Alexander

On Back Row, Left to Right, Edward Lee, William Henry "Will," Amos Allison, Jr., and then the 2 twins, Joel Rudolphus "Joe," and Paul Adolphus (the identification of which twin is which was by Gary Culpepper, the grandson of Joel Rudolphus)

Front Row, Left to Right, Julia Evaline, Rev. Amos Allison, Elizabeth Dale, Remilicent.

I am in possession of the picture from my father, who got it from his father, who got it from wife, Ruby Dimple Culpepper, daughter of Edward Lee Culpepper, son of Rev AA and Elizabeth. I have a much higher resolution of the picture if you need it. Also, thanks for such great work on your site, I use it a lot.

The information above is from the back of the picture.
It was written by Glynn Royce Alexander. The picture was in the possession of Glynn Royce Alexander when he died (May 14 1994) at the old house on Fir Street in Lockhart, Texas. My guess is that Glynn's father, James Rufus Alexander, who also died in that same house (Oct 15 1982), had the picture from his wife, Ruby Dimple Culpepper, died Jul 24 1947. Ruby Dimple died at the age of 47, from breast cancer, and probably had the picture in her possession from her father, Edward Lee Culpepper, who is the left first person, back row, in the picture. I would date the picture was taken somewhere in the early 1900s, in Bastrop County, Texas, where the Rev. Amos Allison Culpepper and wife Elizabeth Dail Culpepper lived from 1886 until their death, Apr 15 1923, Mar 20 1928, respectfully. Edward Lee Culpepper appears to be in his late 20s or early 30s. Ruby Dimple Culpepper was the mother of my father, Glynn Royce Alexander, and Edward Lee Culpepper, was my father's maternal grandfather. I am Glynn's son, Russell Alexander, now in possession of the picture.3,4

Biography* From Loris Brewer, Monday, 8 September 2003, to his cousin Margie Culpepper Wolfe:

Yesterday, we went to McMahan to attend services at the Bethel Baptist Church, primarily because we had never been to services there before. As you know, our g-grandfather, Amos Allison Culpepper, was Elder for that church from 1900-1903.

As you might expect, people came up to introduce themselves to the 'strangers'. Of the people who came up to us were three brothers with the family name of OWEN, the eldest ninety years young. He remembered Amos Culpepper.

Another brother, Curtis Owen told me he knew all of the children of Amos Culpepper (except for my grandfather, Will, who had left the area in 1918) and as well as many of their children. Of Amos' children, he seemed to know Ed, Joe, Paul, and Allie best.

He told me a little story about your grandfather, Allie.

He said that in his later years, Allie was blind -- something I had not heard before.

It seems that one Sunday, Allie came to church and was talking with Curtis. Sometime during the conversation Allie said to him "Would you look into my wallet? I think there is a dollar in there and I want to give it to the church." Curtis did as he was asked and said that the lone dollar was all that Allie had in his wallet.

Curtis then said to me "That will make you stop and think -- a blind man giving his last dollar to the church because that is what he wanted to do."

Just thought you'd like to know.5
