He attended Morse Intercept School at Keesler AFB, MS, finished top in the class, but was transferred to the Personnel Career Field, because of humanitarian reasons. He remained stationed at Keesler from 1968 through 1971. He was then stationed at Eglin AFB FLl from 1971 to 1972, at Eielson AFB, AK, from 1972 to 1974, and then returned back to Keesler as a Military Training instructor from 1974 until 1978. Pepper served in Cullman AL from 1980 until 1983 as an "enlisted recruiter," and at Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, AL, as "Engineer Recruiter" from 1983 to 1986. He also served as Flight Supervisor for the 3331st Recruiting Sq. Engineering Recruiting Team from 83 to 87. In 1987, he was transferred to Robins AFB, GA, as NCOIC CBPO and then to the 2955th Combat Logistics Support Squadron Administration Chief and Acting First Sergeant. Pepper's responsibilities continued to grow, and in 1990 he was transferred to the position of Dep. Director of Family Support Center. As Deputy, he served in numerous positions including the Battle Staff during the Gulf War. Pepper has numerous awards and decorations. He retired in 1993.1 |

A fun-loving outdoorsman, Pepper enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and anything outdoors. He was a member of Tyrian Lodge #111 and of the National Rifle Association. Pepper was also a private pilot; he loved Elvis, and relished time with his family. His parents, Olin Samuel Culpepper and Zelma King Culpepper, preceded him in death. His memory will forever be treasured by his adoring wife of thirty-seven years, Beverly J. Culpepper, Bonaire; children, Greg Payne (Rhoda), Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Chad Payne (Pat), Kathleen, Tasha Cole (Mike), Pensacola, Florida, Jason Payne, Bonaire, and James "Joey" Culpepper, Pensacola, Florida; and grandchildren, Jessica, Trey, Colton, Trent, and Russell Payne, and Ricky C. Besides her role as mother, grandmother and wife, nursing brought her the most joy. She worked in various capacities of hospital and private practices. She was skilled and compassionate in all of her nursing roles. She recently moved with her husband Donnie to Montgomery, AL and joined the First Baptist Church of Montgomery. Cathy loved her Lord and Savior and her family above all things. She loved her animals, Lincoln, Penny, Bella and Ida-Claire, almost as well as her boys. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon & Doris Culpepper. She is survived by her husband, Donnie Miller; sons. Travis (Crockett) Miller and grandchildren, Mills, Pepper & Crockett of Columbus, GA; Brandon (Jenny) Miller and grandchildren, Raines & Lydia of Montgomery, AL; sister Cheryl (Vic) Correll and their children, Vic, Amy & Maggie of Perry, GA; brother, Steven Culpepper of Atlanta, GA; and numerous friends in Americus, Peachtree City and Montgomery. Her laughter, love for life, beautiful smile and unshakable faith will be missed by all who knew her most especially her family. A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 1:00 PM CST with Pastor Jay Wolf officiating with the family receiving friends following the service.3 |

The family will receive friends at Rainey Family Funeral Services, Inc. today, Feb. 9, 2005 from 7-8:30 p.m. They request that memorials be made to Antioch Baptist Church.
