Biography* | | My grandmother Mary Effie Hitt (Bishop), born 28 Oct 1900, had two sisters: (1) Rose C. Hitt (Pilgrim), born 10 Oct 1903 and (2) Della Hitt(Couch), born 14 Feb 1905. They were the daughters of William (Bill) Henry Hitt, born 9 Aug 1868 and Lena Edwards (birthdate unknown). William and Lena married 1898 in Franklin Co. Texas. Lena died abt 1907 we think in either Franklin, Titus or Camp County Texas. William remarried a Emma Kelly in Camp County sometime before 1913. He died 14 Feb 1952 and Emma died 14 Feb 1951. Lena was supposed to be the daughter of Fabe Edwards and Mary Jane Culpepper with a sister named Myrtle who married a Woods and a brother named Joe. This was told to me by my daddy... My grandmother had an uncle that she called Uncle Bud and he was married to a lady named Virgie....
