Biography* | Charles Hull wrote this additonal commentary on March 31, 2006: "Aunt Peb's son was Bert, Jr. Presumably her first husband was named Albert, and they named their son after his father, hence, Bert, Jr. After she was divorced from Bert, Sr., she married Jack Robinson, who was a Maintenance Foreman for TWA. They lived for a time in Chicago, where he worked at Midway Airport in the early 1940's, then later they lived on Houston Lake (address was Parkville, MO) and he worked at the Kansas City Airport, supervising mechanics who maintained the big jumbo jets. Both of them loved to fish, hence, they lived on the lake so they could enjoy their avocation several times a week. "Peb and Jack were my all time favorite aunt and uncle. They treated me like I was their own son, and my favorite Christmas of all time was spent at their house in KC when I was 10. That was one of the few times all our families got together, Uncle David & his wife Evelyn, Peb and Jack and my family... "Jack Robinson's parents lived in Borger, TX, in the Texas panhandle, where my family had moved from Gilmer, TX when I was six months old. We lived there from 1942 until 1946, when we moved to Bartlesville, OK. "I remember visiting Ruby, Jack's mother, who lived there, right after I graduated from OU. I graduated in January, 1964, and worked construction for three months (prior to going on active duty in the Army) in the same refinery that my dad helped build as a young civil engineer in the early 1940's. Jack's father, Tom Robinson, was an even more avid fisherman than Jack was, but he passed away sometime in the late 1950's. Anyway, I had a chance to visit and get to know Ruby before she passed away. "Then, a year and a half later, while I was still in the Army, I visited Peb & Jack after I graduated from the Defense Language Institute West Coast in Monterey, CA in September, 1965, on my way to my first duty station in Germany. They always rolled out the red carpet."1 |
