The original version of the following typescript of the Charles William Culpepper Bible record was found by Lew Griffin2 on microfilm in the LDS Library in Salt Lake City. (For purposes of consistency on Culpepper Connections, the date formats have been changed.) At the time the typescript was made by Mrs. James Byrn in January 1963, the Bible was in the possession of Mrs. Charles Adney McSwain of Puryear, TN. Mrs. McSwain died in 1975. The current (1999) owner according to Darin Stark is probably Darin's mother-in-law, Anne McSwain. A notation in the typescript indicates that "the backs are gone but the title page was found with the records. It was published by the Baptist Book Store, Memphis, TN, copyright 1885."

James W. Culpepper 30 b. KY, Harriet 33 b. KY, Lucy Ann 6, Chas. W.
Research note*19 May 2004 James Henry Culpepper of KY and TN is suggested as a son of Henry and Edith Culpepper, because Henry was known to have had a son James, otherwise unaccounted for, and because James H. named a son James Warren Culpepper. Henry had a son, Warren, so James H. would have been naming a son for his brother Warren. Further proof of this connection is needed. Henry's 1815 estate records should be checked for some reference to this son and his location in 1815. Also, his county of residence in 1815 or thereafter could be checked for a power of attorney deed related to Henry's estate.

Your help with this person will be appreciated. Contact Lew Griffin (see footnote for details).8
