Survivors include three sons, Keith Culpepper, Bob Culpepper and Thomas Culpepper, all of Ovett; two sisters, Josephine Scruggs of Ellisville and Jean Walters of Pascagoula; two brothers, Howard Walters of Ovett and Thomas V. Walters of Moss; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Memory Chapel in Laurel.1 
Burial*25 May 2004 Her body was interred on 25 May 2004 at Union Cemetery, Jones Co., Mississippi.1

Research note*April 2008 It is possible that some records for more than one person have been combined here and/or Mae Demerse Culpepper has been misidentified. The marriage record is ofr a "Mary Culpepper", but of course, that could have been transcribed in error. But May Culpepper appears in John Tilman Culpepper's household as a single woman in both the 1910 and 1920 censuses. While she is shown in 1930 in Covington Co. with J. Benjamin Dearman with six children, ranging up to 14 years of age. However, none of these Dearmans can be found in 1920. More research is needed, and your help with this family would be appreciated.6
